A demon is considered to be a powerful, supernatural being that is generally malevolent (wishing or appearing to wish evil to others) in character. The word demon comes from the Greek word daimon, which means a divine or semi-divine power that determined a person’s fate. Some believe demons are angels who have fallen from grace or have chosen to take the cross over to the dark side, so to speak.
Demons are evil, supernatural beings of intelligence, wit, and immense power. They have the power to invade our homes, attach themselves to objects, and inflict torture both mentally and emotionally by attacking or even possessing the human body.
Demons are usually portrayed as large, muscular, human-like creatures. They are usually thought to be red, winged, and even surrounded by fire. They can take on any form they want, but most commonly it is a half man, half animal form.
In many cases, demons are summoned by someone using a Ouija board or tinkering with some formĀ of magic, witchcraft or demon worship that they shouldn’t be tinkering with. They most likely don’t know what they are getting themselves into.
Demonic hauntings are commonly represented by a stench similar to rotting flesh or sulfuric acid. The air in the area will feel thick and the temperature will drastically change, typically becoming warmer, although intense coldness is sometimes present. Growling sounds seem to come from everywhere all at once. The sounds of menacing laughter or disembodies voices speaking in foreign tongues, usually Latin, can often be heard. The demon may make verbal threats or throw objects. They like to push, shove, hit, and scratch. They may cause nightmares, consistent bad luck, and an overwhelming sense of hate, anger, and evil. A demon’s main goal seems to be to break down a person’s free will so they can possess them.
Demons have the ability to morph into any shape they want. They can change from a human form to an inhuman form before your very eyes. They are neither male nor female and can change to whatever meets their need at the time. Demons are commonly seen as black masses standing in doorways or in the corner of the room.
Demon hauntings usually start in a subtle way. Some initial activity may include: faucets dripping, scratches in the walls and thumping sounds. These behaviors are typically the same behaviors displayed by a poltergeist but more extreme. It’s common for several entities to exist in one location with a strong evil presence seemingly controlling the others and not allowing them to cross over.
It is believed that demons hate humans and think of them as very lowly and stupid. Demons should never be challenged, unless you want a crash course on how weak you really are. Most demonic entities like a challenge and are incredibly conniving; they may have you believing they are good spirits or may appear to have gone away, only to confront you again at the least expected and most vulnerable moment.
Short of an exorcism, which is usually successful, some believe it may be possible to actually command a demon to leave. Be persistent, show no fear and tell it to get out. They will leave, although not necessarily right away but keep trying. Also, it’s been said that demons don’t like to be ignored. If it can’t get you to fear it, then the game is over. Like they say, ignore it and it will go away. It’s worth a shot at least.
Something else that might help is smudging. To smudge your house, open the windows and light a bundle of dried sage. Sage is believed to clear away negative energy and spirits. Catch the ashes with a plate held underneath the bundle and walk around your home to cleanse it with the sage smoke. It is also said that sprinkling holy water throughout the house might work too.
Demons have lived for thousands of years and will be here long after we’re gone. Although it’s possible to get a demon to leave a place with the above mentioned methods, they may not necessarily be destroyed. They may just find a new place to terrorize.

I can’t subscribe to the notion of demons but rather those malignant souls who have passed on in past ages and remained in spirit. Some have obtained the power to influence the living as well as trap some in what was described by one out of body traveler as black holes were hideous thoughts are imposed on the weary to trap them in fear.
This is perhaps were some of the original “hell fite” theory started in the 1800s to retract many who fell away from the church back into the fold so to speak.
These entities are nothing to tangle with by the unprepared however since the results are said to be detrimental. This is one reason why mediums envision themselves wrapped in light prior to going into any trance session to ward malignant sources and allow genuinely sincere sould to utilize the vocal cords if not the entire vehicle known as the physical body.

Hi Dave, thanks for posting, I’m not sure I got your last part of your comment. Could you please elaborate:
“This is one reason why mediums envision themselves wrapped in light prior to going into any trance session to ward malignant sources and allow genuinely sincere sould to utilize the vocal cords if not the entire vehicle known as the physical body.”
In any event, I feel that the terminology is strictly symantical…I use the word demons [ I think ] because I was raised in the Roman Catholic tradition. I do, however, like your term ‘Malignant Souls’ better…it seems more all encompasing.

This is mainly from research into various areas including Spiritualism where before any session group or individual where a medium is about to open themselves up to the “unknown” they will ask spirit to be engulfed in a circle of light to protect themselves from bad sources that would try to gain access in some way.
Some cling to the strong belief that we return at different times to complete a cycle of lives being different people each time once reincarnated. Some have broken the chain of the need to return to balance things like karma for example to remain in the spirit realm to cause havoc when possible from the “other side”.
I’ve even known some who report being able to leave the physical body and travel and have encountered some rather “nasty entities” when looking for shortcuts in developing certain talents. They report things that would make your hair stand on end.
In this life I didn’t have to astral travel to see some very unusual things especially early in life when apparently a faculty was opened briefly. But did want to convey some of the belief structure surrounging the beliefs many have.
As far as mediums there different types of them which include full trance medium where that person’s soul takes a vacation briefly to allow another in fully or partially. Then you have those that claim to be able to communicate with the dead directly by receiving impressions when asked questions during a reading.
Other mediums allow the dead to “channel” healing energy through them to the sick. If you were to attend a Spiritual church for example a portion of the service besides the speaker/reader of the day passing along messages to each of those who attend would be devoted to a healing session where more then one act as healing channels.
The first thing the healer does is ask the universe to allow them to be the instrument by private prayer as they await those attending to come up and sit in a chair placed in front of them. Everything is conducted on a voluntary basis with service as the motive according to the beliefs.
As for those who astral travel a secure place where no one can come up and touch them is required to prevent the soul from being pulled back in too fast causing bodily harm. The person who travels first asks the universe for their own protective shield as they go out and explore.
It’s a lot to take in with each part desiring a positive environment usually by some sort of prayer collective or individual to ward anything malignant. Speaking of which some even say the Roman Catholics are some of the better Spiritualists due to how those in the priesthood are trained to expell and ward off what should we demons or malignant souls or anything bad.

Just wanted to add my two cents on a few things briefly mentioned in the original post. Sage and Holy Water do work. I have found Bergamot herb and its oil to be more powerful than sage itself. The power within the Holy Water depends on a couple things. There are a few different ways of making Holy Water. None are wrong, and all are just as effective. One key factor in making Holy Water is the amount of spiritual energy put into it and the purity of that energy. The larger and the purer the amount of energy is put into it, the stronger the Holy Water you get. As for telling a malevolent entity to get out. That does work as long as it is in conjunction with the use of something else. Otherwise, I have found that it doesn’t work at all and usually ends up teasing and riling the entity up more. Almost like a bad joke. As for sage, I have found that it does work. My only complaint about sage, is that it usually isn’t as strong of a protection as I would like my protection to be. It’s really all a matter of preference within what you are doing and how you wish to proceed with matters.

No doubt on that! These are different tools to work with. Many will pray for a circle of light to surround them as well especially when opening things up for contact with the other side.
